Young Investigator Award

The Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding early-career researchers—graduate students and postdoctoral fellows—who demonstrate excellence in both research and presentation at SPIE ABC 2025.

Eligibility

  • Authorship & presentation: You must be the first author and the designated presenter of the submitted paper.
  • Applicants must be either:
    - A current Ph.D. student enrolled at the time of submission.
    - or a Postdoctoral applicant who received their Ph.D. after 1 January 2023.

How to Apply

  • During abstract submission
    - Select the Young Investigator Award option in the online form.
  • Upload two separate PDF files (in addition to the abstract):
    1. Application Form (single PDF, using the provided template) containing:
      - Statement of Purpose (maximum 500 words) describing your research interests, motivation for applying, and future goals.
      - Academic advisor’s signature confirming support.
      - Curriculum Vitae (free format, up to two pages) listing education, publications, presentations, awards, and relevant experience.
    2. Graphical Abstract: one page (PDF) visually summarizing the submitted work.

All materials must be uploaded as part of the abstract-submission workflow; late or separate submissions cannot be accepted.
