Biomedical Optics Express (BOE)
SPIE Advanced Biophotonics Conference (ABC) 2025 participants are invited to contribute to a Feature Issue of Biomedical Optics Express (BOE), an open-access journal published by Optica Publishing Group. This Feature Issue will showcase the most innovative and impactful research presented at SPIE ABC 2025, offering authors the opportunity to expand their conference abstracts into full-length journal articles. BOE publishes peer-reviewed papers that report on the latest advances in optics and photonics for the life sciences, including fundamental and applied research. Eligibility and Scope
- All authors who have submitted abstracts to SPIE ABC 2025 are welcome to consider preparing a full-length journal article for BOE.
- Topics of interest include but are not limited to optical imaging, spectroscopy, biophotonics instrumentation, clinical translation, and emerging methods in biomedical optics.
- Submissions Open: 01 November 2025 (expected)
- Submission Deadline: 01 February 2026
Submission Process
- Manuscripts must be prepared according to the BOE Author Guidelines.
- All manuscripts will undergo rigorous peer review in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies.

- BOE is a Gold Open Access journal, ensuring wide visibility and accessibility of published work.
- Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submission complies with BOE’s originality requirements and ethical guidelines.
- Submitting to the BOE Feature Issue is optional and separate from SPIE Proceedings publication.

- Young Investigator Award (YIA) presenters are required to submit their work to SPIE Proceedings.
